Waiting

WAITINGWaiting is difficult . . . crawling behind a car that is going well below the speed limit in a no-passing zone, tapping your foot in line at the coffee shop as someone scrounges up exact change, anxiously waiting for the mailman so you can get your hands on that check that was promised weeks ago, and, of course, trying to keep a great attitude in church on the very Sunday that you planned to meet friends for lunch at 12:30 and your pastor decides to include next week’s sermon in with this week’s. Maybe the toughest waiting is when we ask God for direction on an important life decision.

No, waiting is not easy, but God tells us to wait patiently for Him: His choices, His answers, His news, His guidance, His perfect spouse for us, His desire for our vocation, His Love, and yes, even His coming again. Waiting patiently means trusting God knows what is best for us because we are His children.
God desires us to wait for Him because when we acknowledge Him in all our decisions, we truly begin to walk in wisdom.

Dear God, help me to overcome doubts and the temptation of impatience. Help me to trust You with the choices and decisions of my life because You know what is best for me. Amen.

Welcome to Fresh Start 007!

Hello friends,

A few close and well respected friends have told me repeatedly that I have a gift for writing . . . so here goes.

Many of you know I walked through several difficult years dealing with life’s struggles.  Although, at times, I felt “all alone”, I always knew that I had God to hold on to!

A couple of years ago I had to start rebuilding my life after a 20-year marriage ended.  I started over with NOTHING!  For over 25 years I had been involved in real estate development and had a hand in helping to build industrial buildings, shopping centers, office buildings and apartment complexes.  I can tell you . . . it’s much easier to build from scratch.  But as I came to find out first hand, rebuilding my life was HARD WORK!  Instead of building from scratch, I had to first deal with the damage of the past.  After I faced the fact that there was, indeed, damage, I had the task of cleaning out the anger, bitterness, fear, worry and anxiety from my heart and soul.

With that in mind, I’ll be sharing about my life experiences together with random thoughts about where I am today to help remind me of how far I’ve come in my own journey and also to give you hope for your very own FRESH START!

Since this is my first post, I want to share my heart with this scripture:

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.  2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV

Also, before you go, let me share this.  My parents have long since passed away (Mom in 1990 and Dad in 1999), but while my Dad was still alive he blessed me with this verse every time I left his home after a visit and I was always comforted on my drive home.  I pray this blesses and comforts you as it did me:

“‘“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’  Numbers 6:24-26 NIV

I hope you follow me!
