I’m realizing how quickly time passes the older I become. The days, weeks and months disappear all too quickly and I now realize that the years seem to be accelerating. We’re told in James 4:14 NKJV, “whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” Mortality is a given . . . all of us will die.
When a soldier leaves home to serve his country they are literally putting their lives on the line for us, Americans. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE, it comes with a price, a price that our forefathers understood and our soldiers understand today.
Ronald Reagan said it best, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same”.
Today as I reflect on the price of liberty my heart goes out to the families of the men and woman who have served our Country, those who are currently serving our country and those who didn’t return home, who paid the ultimate price and left their earthly lives on the battlefields across the world.
As you enjoy your time with family and friends, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on what Memorial Day really means and remember those who have gone on before you.
